Bulgaria continues to recover from a Communist hangover.
It's a place for visitors to glimpse how a country copes with having
its social and economic system turned upside down. We watched people
pick grapes by hand, use donkey carts as mass transit, and recall
the old days in their architecture and paintings.
Highlight: Most people enjoy Bulgaria's Black Sea
resorts but for history and beauty our favorite spot was Veliko Tarnovo.
