Our first full game viewing day. It's like the Age of Dinosaurs. Everything here is exotic, big, and tough. Our state of mind is not culture-shock; it is best described as habitat-shock. The trees have different shapes and are covered in thorns. The birds have strange beaks and are brightly colored. Some of these birds are huge. We recognize the animals, but we've never seen them in their natural habitat. They certainly act differently than zoo animals. They're wary and alert. We can feel the tension, which is what a poet would call the vibrancy of life. It must be the effect of knowing that a hungry lion may be in the tall grass nearby.
