| Chengdu: Today we took a 19 hour overnight train to Chengdu. Bruce
performed a miracle by getting us through the train station. The place
was a madhouse. Jill stuck out in the crowd, and wherever she went, little
kids were always saying "hello, hello" like little parrots. The train
provided good accommodations (even a Western style toilet!), so we were
able to sleep (and do the aforementioned) easily. The scenery was fantastic
as we rolled along mountains and river valleys. The only incident occurred
when we jumped off at a village stop, mistaking a 5 minute break for 15
minutes. We had a good sprint back to the train! |
