Chengdu: This city is renowned for panda bears so that's what we went
to see. The fuzzy little things were cute. It was fun to watch them play,
but we've had even more fun reading the English signs around here. Some
are only confusing, like "Don't touch doors, they open and close manually."
Some offer good advice, "Nice to live; pay attention to safety" or "Among
passengers there should be civic virtues, uniting, and fraternity." Others
are just downright deep, "Protect our surroundings and enjoy a better
ecological balance." I think these are the same people that write for
fortune cookies. Anyone want to come and proofread signs for the Chinese
government? |
