JULY 31, 2000

We boarded a Thai Airlines red-eye to Athens, arriving at 11:00 am, and met our cousin Ryan in the lobby of our hotel. He hadn't slept for the past 36 hours, so of course we took him on a death march around the city. It was also his 22nd birthday, so we let him carry Jill up Lumbatika, the highest point in modern Athens.
