We were sorry to leave Siwa since it offered a good glimpse into Egyptian desert life. It takes 11 hours to reach Cairo, so we stopped halfway in Marsa Matruh for the night. We're enjoying Egyptian food, our favorite dishes: shish tawok, chicken kebab on a sub roll with a peanut-mayonaise tasting sauce; and karshori, a rice and macaroni noodle dish mixed with lentil beans, chick peas, and tomato sauce. |
