Today we covered 1000 km, flying from Lower to Upper Egypt (Upper Egypt is south since "upper" pertains to upstream on the Nile, which flows from south to north). We toured Abu Simbel, a magnificent temple a few miles from Egypt's border with Sudan. Then we flew to Aswan, boarding our boat, the King of Thebes, that will take us down the Nile. We ended the day riding on a felucca, a small Nile sailboat. Our tour group is completely American, a situation we find refreshing despite the fact that Americans now seem like foreigners to us. |
