Last night we stayed in St Goar along the Rhine river, in a hotel that was exceptional for large rooms, home-like atmosphere, and personable service. This morning we sailed downriver to Rudesheim. The Rhine had to be the most fortified river in Europe. Castles, castles, on every bend a castle, and if not that, then a winery. We liked it so much we biked 30 km back upriver. On the way I got a flat tire and learned a new German word: kaput.
