This morning we saw the Lipizzaner stallions, which are famous for dancing and tricks such as walking on their hind legs. Then we strolled around Vienna and finally decided to catch a train to an outlying town. We ended up in Melk along the Danube river. We rented bikes and rode through the countryside, which is a beautiful combination of farmland, manicured green lawns, thickly forested hills, and towns that seemed identical except in name - small towns of red shingle houses, narrow streets, and a little church with a tall steeple.
She wants to keep going; I need a beer!
The Melk Abbey completely dominates the town: it's a very recognizeable Austrian landmark.
