| Everything shut down in Kathmandu due to the Royal family massacre. The streets were tense and deserted all day; people boarded up their homes and shops to avoid riot damage. We attended the funeral procession and watched the bodies carried openly on funeral pyres. The Princess's face looked lifelike; her eyes stared at us as her body was carried by. |

pushed us aside and pressed us into the street walls as they passed,
chanting slogans against the prime minister and the government.
