Phak Ding to Namche Bazaar. We hiked through blue pine, fire, and juniper forests. The Nepal villages look almost European, composed of sturdy stone houses, narrow streets, and stone walls enclosing fields that cover the countryside. The stone walls keep yaks and cows out of the fields but force them into the streets. We spend a lot of time stepping around chickens, yaks, cows, and small children. After four hours we reach Namche Bazaar (3500 meters), a horseshoe shaped village that melds perfectly into a valley basin above the Bhote Kosi Gorge.
Hard to find a dentist up here.

Teahouses are common along the trail.
