Previous Day May 27, 2001 Next Day
Today we finally saw our first mountains during a five hour hike to Lobuche (4930 meters). So far the altitude hasn't affected us badly even though we're higher than any place in the continental U.S. The day was somewhat clear and we saw mountain tops float above the clouds. Their size stunned us. The Himalayas boast the top 14 highest mountains in the world, with 8 out of the top 10 in Nepal. We kept looking too low in the skyline to pick out the mountain tops.
Feeling dizzy from the altitude.
