We left Kruger and drove 400 km West towards Johannesburg. First we passed through rocky hills, then long stretches of farmland. After 4 hours we arrived in Johannesburg. We've heard downtown Jo'burg can be more dangerous than a night out in the wilderness. The crime here became so prevalent, day or night, that businesses abandoned their downtown office buildings. The city is a modern ghost town of vacant highrises. All major hotels closed their doors and followed the businesses to new locations in northern suburbs. Even the culture center, Johannesburg's tallest building, is closed and empty.
Some neighborhoods have sharp demarcations. This road separates a middle class neighborhood from a poor neighborhood.
