At first light we pried ourselves from bed and joined a tour to the narrow gorges that cut through Sinai’s desert. From a full day there our desert dash continued at night: we joined another group (mostly German) and drove to the base of Mt. Sinai. After a 2 hour climb we reached the top and spent the night in a windy crag between a monastery’s roof and a mountain boulder.

Bedouin taxi's will carry you to the top if you don't feel like walking. On this moonlit night we need no help from camels. |
