Next Day
We hitched a ride to the borderpost, showed our passports, and walked across the border into Uganda. Once in Uganda, we caught up to our group on the shores of Lake Bunyoni. This is a peaceful area. Idi Amin's old vacation mansion, now abandoned and falling apart, overlooked the shore. We don't swim because the waters carry bilharzia, a nasty parasite. We just enjoy the views. The drive back to Kampala takes us eight hours. This is lush, temperate country and the drive is a farmer's paradise.
The gorilla park in Rwanda made famous by Dian Fossey.
Last view of Gorillas in the Mist.
Shore of Lake Bunyoni.
Crossing the equator.
