Next Day
Close encounter with chimpanzees on Ngamba island. During our picnic on the island, one of the chimps escaped from a fenced enclosure and joined us. He ran from the park guards into the middle of our group and sat beside Jill. The chimp regarded us with a calm, curious look. We smiled back. The park staff came and took him away. They told us that this chimp, named Sunday, liked tourists and came to us out of curiosity. More territorial chimps would have attacked, beaten, bitten, and drove us into the lake.
What do you do when a chimp joins you for lunch?
Smile and don't fight for the last banana.
The Thinker.
