Why stay in one spot for long? Sitting
around we cook like the tamales that the Mayan women wrap in banana leaves and
sell for a quarter, so we head for the coast to swim and sit under jungle shade
in a hideaway town called Rio Dulce. From our Spanish classes we think this means
"Sweet River" but our hideaway looks more like a swamp. The porch perches
over clear water filled with hungry looking fish. We pick bugs off the floor,
drop them into the water, and think about childhood nightmares of piranha in a
feeding frenzy. |
