Until now we thought Antigua was a Caribbean island nation. It's also a famous colonial town in Guatemala that served as Guatemala's capital from 1543 until 1776. After an earthquake shook everything to the ground, the people wisely moved the government to Guatemala City, however, Antigua retained all of the charm and many visitors say it is the most beautiful town in the Americas. It lies in a valley beneath three conehead volcanoes - Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. | |||
