| Because it's Kashmir day, commemorating Pakistan's unsuccessful struggle to acquire the Kashmir province from India (Pakistan has fought 3 wars with India over this disputed territory), tension grips Lahore. Gangs of heavily armed police stand on the street corners. We walk into a main square and run into a demonstration led by impassioned men. We hear someone shouting into a microphone, "Jihad - blah, blah, blah - Ameriki! - blah, blah, blah - Kashmiri, Iraqi - blah blah" and we turn and leave. | |||
