Before Nike and Calvin Klein came to Borneo, this
is the dress that inhabitants called 'in style.' Why wear a cheap Nike
logo when you can have cool shapes tattoed directly on the skin?

Sarawak's colonial history shows how a common man
can become a rajah. Adventurer James Brook, from Britain, used inheritance
money to buy a ship and crew. He arrived in Malaysian Borneo during
a revolt against the Sultan of Brunei (who ruled a large portion of
the island). Brook and his men suppressed the revolt and in gratitude,
the Sultan made Brook into royalty, declaring him the Rajah of Sarawak.
Brook built this castle in 1841, the homeseat of his Sarawak empire,
which encompassed many square miles of Borneo.
